The head is a slicker: fine angled pins that reach through the top coat to lift loose undercoat as you brush. It is for dogs and cats, short or long haired.

A slicker brush fills up fast, and picking matted hair out of the pins by hand is the reason most of them end up in a drawer.

Press the button on the back and the pins retract flush into the head. The collected hair lifts off in one pad and goes straight in the bin. Release, and the pins come back out.

How to use

1. Brush in the direction the coat grows. Short, light strokes. Let the pins do the work rather than pressing down.
2. Work in sections rather than long passes across the whole animal.
3. Press the button when the head fills up. The pins retract and the hair lifts off in one pad.
4. Release and carry on.

Use and care

Slicker pins are fine and firm. Use light pressure, keep it to the coat, and stay away from the face, ears and belly. If your pet has sore, broken or irritated skin, or a coat with heavy matting, speak to a groomer or vet before using any brush on it.

Every animal tolerates grooming differently. Start short and stop if your pet is uncomfortable.

Wipe with a damp cloth. Don't submerge.

Frequently asked questions

How does the self-cleaning part work?
The pins sit on a plate inside the head. Pressing the button pulls the plate down so the pins sit flush with the surface, and the hair that was caught around them lifts off as one pad. Release the button and the pins come back out.

Is it safe for my pet?
Used with light pressure on the coat, a slicker is a standard grooming tool. But we can't tell you how your particular animal's skin will react, so we won't pretend to. Keep it off the face, ears and belly, use light strokes, and check with a groomer or vet if there's any skin problem or serious matting.

Cats too?
Yes, it's made for both. Cats generally need a lighter hand and shorter sessions.

Do I need refills?
No. Press the button, bin the hair, carry on.

How is this different from the rest of the range?
Everything else we sell cleans a surface — sofa, carpet, stairs, clothes. This one grooms the animal. Used together, there is simply less hair reaching the furniture in the first place.
